OLD SOUTH HUNTING RETRIEVER CLUB

Brenda McLendon and Shelby

Brenda and Shelby got their 500 hundredth point at the Old South Hunt Test September 29th and 30th.

WAY TO GO BRENDA AND SHELBY!!!

Our fall hunt test held on September 29 and 30 at the Turner farm in Hamilton, just North of Columbus was quite a success.  We had a really good turnout in spite of the fact that the fall Grand was the weekend before our test.  We really appreciate the judges and the handlers that came and to made it so successful.

Our very own Brenda McLendon running her dog Shelby got her 500 hundredth point and a good wetting.  Brenda we are very proud of you and want to offer you our congratulations.  Way to go!

In October our training session was a Carol Cassity seminar that was free to Old South members and was organized and planned by Barbara Jones.  Carol, having a full time job as a teacher, decided that she had to have some way to train her dogs to a high level without having time to go to a field and run setups every day, so she accumulated many drills that could be run in her yard or at a school playground that would teach her dogs how to cope with different situations that they could encounter in the field.  She has been very successful and offers seminars to share this information with other amateur trainers.  The attendees really learned a lot and really enjoyed the day.  Thanks to Barbara and Carol.

Plans are underway for our spring hunt test to be held on March 29 and 30 in the Madison area.  Since the last day to qualify for the Grand is April 1 and the fact that the spring Grand will be at Burnt Pines Plantation, also in the Madison area, we feel that we will have a big turn out, so we are planning to offer four flights of Finished and will add another flight if the entries warrant it.  We are looking forward to seeing you at our hunt test.

I would like to wish you all a very enjoyable Thanksgiving, a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from the officers, the board and the members of Old South.
