Shotgun Annie
Annie was the smallest pup
in a litter of five. As an adult she maintains her weight at 70
pounds. We didn’t get started in the hunt test game until she was about
two. As a pup, young dog, and even into her eighth and ninth year she
worked fast with lots of desire and persistence.
Annie
and I learned the “art and science” of hunting and hunt testing
together. The journey to 500 had a few bumps along the way but most of
the time it was “smooth sailing”. I suspect that Annie has been a far
better working dog than I’ve been a hunter or handler. We’ve gotten
lots of support from our training group – Dick Schumacher with Cody,
Lynn Quadhamer with Mady and Faith and Randy Coffman with Cutter, the
membership of Great Plains HRC, handlers in Region 13 and my spouse
Lanna. I’ve been blessed with a good dog that has been healthy and
injury free for 10 years. It doesn’t get any better than that! |
