I picked Dice
up at the airport as a bouncing 7-week old puppy that I purchased sight
unseen. The minute Dice arrived, I knew he was special. He was an
absolute joy to train and we progressed through the Started and Seasoned
tests easily. The Finished tests posed more of a problem for us due to
his handler – me. Oh, he failed some due to his own mistakes but I
flunked the most due to my errors. There are many judges in Region 13
that have seen the two of us in rare form! On the day he earned his
HRCH, he was tremendous and I didn’t interfere. It was a great day to
run under Mark Powell DVM and Larry Davis.
Because of
that special “something,” I knew we should go further but there was no
way that I could train to the Grand level as my career wouldn’t allow
the time. Chris Jobman of Flatlander Kennels handled all of Dice’s Grand
training. Chris and Dice spent lots of time together and progressed
through the 500 point mark with an almost perfect record. Dice is only 4
years old and has passed 2 of the 3 Grands that he has run and I
couldn’t be more thrilled.
He is one the
most consistent, easy-going-in-the-house/fireball-in-the-field dogs
around. He is our #1 goose hunting dog and my #1 companion. I thank all
the judges we have run under for their dedicated effort to the HRC and
all the members of Region 13 who are some of the best people around. Lastly, a big thank you to Ron Green DVM who supports and encourages me
and is the best kennel boy around not to mention husband! I wouldn't be
in this sport if it weren't for all the support of Region 13! |
