HRC APPRENTICE JUDGE GUIDELINES
& POLICIES
Apprenticing gives the apprentice “hands on” experience and
knowledge. The apprentice’s Licensed Judge will complete an Apprentice Form
evaluating the performance and abilities of the apprentice for that test.
The Hunt Secretary of the Club hosting the Hunt will provide the
Apprentice Form to the apprentice to complete his/her information and then to
the Licensed Judge to complete his/her evaluation of the apprentice.
The Hunt Secretary is responsible for sending the Apprentice Form to
HRC, PO Drawer 3179, Big Spring, TX 79721
- Fax (214)261-5166 or email to admin@HuntingRetrieverClub.org.
Fax or email is preferred.
The following are basic
guidelines and requirements.
1.
Only one apprentice Judge
is allowed per AA Licensed Judge for a Regular Hunt and only 2 apprentice Upland
Judges are allowed per AA Licensed Upland Judge for a Upland Hunt.
2.
Apprentice Judging
Assignments must be under different AA Licensed Judges for the Category.
3.
Apprentice Judges are to
report to the hunt grounds on setup day prior to the Hunt to meet with the Hunt
Committee, Licensed Judge and Marshal. Both Judges should thoroughly go over and
select the hunt areas in order to test the hunting retriever in a true-to-life
hunting situation.
4.
The
Apprentice Judge is to actively participate in the design and setup of the tests
with the Licensed Judge on setup day.
5.
On the day of the Hunt,
the Apprentice Judge shall actively participate in the Handlers meeting.
6.
Apprentice Judges will
participate in any Handler Conferences with the Licensed Judge at the
appropriate times after the conclusion of their tests.
7.
The Apprentice Judge
will record the entire performance of each dog in an appropriate manner on
the Judge Sheet.
8.
Failure of the Apprentice
Judge to be present and participate in Test Setup and/or failure to participate
in Handler conferences after the hunt and/or failure to properly record the
performance of the dog(s), will cause the Apprenticeship to be void and shall
not count toward Licensing requirements.
9.
Licensed and Apprentice
Judges are to keep all Judges sheets for a period of one (1) year.
10.
No dog in contention for
points, owned or co-owned by a Judge or apprentice Judge may be entered under
the Judge or apprentice. No dog in contention for points, trained by a Judge or
apprentice Judge for compensation during the preceding twelve (12) months may be
entered under that Judge or apprentice. No dog in contention for points, owned
or co-owned by a member of the Judge’s or apprentice’s immediate family or
cohabitant of a Judge or apprentice may be entered under the Judge or
apprentice.
