About the author... Tim Gibson Tim lives in Carbondale, IL with his wife Kathy and their two Labrador retrievers Rocky and Babe and their adopted Yorkie, Sam. Tim and Kathy are charter members of the Southern Illinois Hunting Retriever Club and have been members of HRC since 1986. Kathy is a past HRC National Secretary. Tim is an avid waterfowl and turkey hunter. He is a contractor by profession, and teaches college courses in Construction Management. He is a state of Illinois certified Hunter Safety instructor and an FAA licensed flight instructor in both single and multi-engine aircraft. Tim is a licensed United Kennel Club, Inc./Hunting Retriever Club, Inc. Finished level, and Upland Hunt Test judge and has written the popular "Judge's Corner" in the Hunting Retriever magazine since 1995. Hunting Retriever is published by the United Kennel Club, and is the magazine of the Hunting Retriever Club, Inc. Tim has served as local club president, and is a past chairman of HRC's Grand Hunt Committee. He is an honorary lifetime member of HRC. Currently he is a Hunting Retriever Club, Inc., National Field Representative. Tim has helped develop the HRC Judges and Handlers Seminar, which teaches United Kennel Club licensed judges how to properly set up and test retrievers in HRC licensed hunt tests. The retrievers are tested in realistic hunting scenarios to evaluate them as useful hunting companions, and to award UKC titles such as Started Hunting Retriever, Hunting Retriever, Hunting Retriever Champion, Grand Hunting Retriever Champion, and Upland Hunter. Tim and Kathy are amateur retriever trainers, and have trained six Hunting Retriever Champions. Tim actively runs dogs and judges in HRC events.
