HRC has lost a wonderful member of this family. Harold Caldwell, HRC Member #5536 (1991), passed away on Friday, February 14, 2003 at the age of 32. Harold, who suffered from a progressive degenerative illness confining him to a wheelchair for many years, had been bedridden for the past several months and passed quietly in his sleep. Harold and his Dad, Russell, from Union City, TN, along with Will Gurton, were some of the founders of the Reelfoot Lake HRC. There was a wonderful article written by the late Gary Crowell about Harold in the 1996 June/July issue of HUNTING RETRIEVER magazine - we would like to share that with you, it will warm your heart. I had the privilege of personally meeting Harold in my HRC travels. He was a wonderful, caring and energetic young man, loved his dogs, loved life and achieved great success in HRC. Those who were blessed to have met Harold were truly inspired by his courage and love. Our prayers and thoughts go to Harold's family.
